The Minister of Public Business Sector and the Governor of Alexandria witness the opening of the “Sound and Light” shows at Qaitbay Citadel
=== … He also thanked Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, for his generous sponsorship of this event, which witnesses the start of the sound and light shows at Qaitbay Citadel – for the first time – in Alexandria. The Minister explained that the project comes within the framework of the Ministry’s action plan to develop the performance of affiliated companies and improve the quality and level of services provided to citizens, provide new and diverse products, enhance the tourism and cultural role of the Holding Company for Tourism and Hotels, and create new tourist destinations within the state’s direction to boost incoming tourism to Egypt, noting that the sound and light show represents a new tourist experience for visitors to Qaitbay Citadel and Alexandria, both Egyptians and foreigners, as it tells – in Arabic and English – the history of the city and its ancient civilization using modern sound and lighting technologies to highlight the history of the citadel and its architectural beauty. Engineer Mohamed Shimi pointed out that the Ministry is keen to support and enhance such projects implemented by affiliated companies in a way that contributes to advancing economic development, creating job opportunities, and increasing tourism revenues, which positively reflects on the national economy, explaining that this project represents the fruit of cooperation and joint efforts between the Egyptian Sound and Light Company affiliated to the Ministry of the Public Business Sector and many entities, most notably the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities through the Supreme Council of Antiquities, and demonstrates our ability to present our ancient history in a modern way that keeps pace with the times and provides visitors with a unique opportunity to discover this cultural heritage that extends across the ages.
At the end of his speech, the Minister thanked everyone who contributed to the completion of this project for the great effort and hard work that was made to ensure that these shows are presented in a manner that is appropriate to the value and importance of this historical edifice represented by the Qaitbay Citadel. For his part, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled stressed that the “Sound and Light” project is one of the pioneering projects for visitors to Qaitbay Citadel, both Egyptians and foreigners, which combines in one event the greatness of history and future technology, as it tells the history of the city of Alexandria and its various ancient civilizations, Roman, Greek, Coptic and Islamic, using modern sound and lighting technologies.
The governor stressed the interest given by the political leadership to the city of Alexandria at all levels, especially interest in archaeological sites, through the implementation of many projects, most notably the project to develop and restore the Greco-Roman Museum, and the project to develop Prophet Daniel Street, noting that these projects and others contribute greatly to making Alexandria on the list of international tourist attractions.
In conclusion, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Ministry of the Business Sector, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, and all the ministries and concerned parties responsible for implementing this project, hoping that the “Sound and Light Shows” project will contribute to enhancing Alexandria’s position on the global and local tourism map. Mohamed Abdel Aziz, Managing Director of Misr Sound and Light Company, stated that the opening of the shows at Qaitbay Citadel is the beginning of a long journey of ambitious projects through which the company seeks to highlight Egypt’s cultural and touristic status worldwide. We look forward to the future with great confidence in our ability to develop more similar cultural shows that contribute to enhancing Egypt’s status and presenting its ancient heritage in a modern and attractive way. #Ministry_of_Public_Business_Sector #Alexandria #Shows #Sound_and_Light #Qaitbay_Citadel #Tourism
